I have finished many projects this December. First to come my experiments with weaving techniques. The two exercises you can see above turned out really nice and two friends saw them and fell so much in love with them, that I framed them and gave them to them as Christmas presents.

The doorplate for the front door of my flat is finished too. I am not as happy with it as with the other two woven pieces because to make the letters easier to read I had to add some heavy embroidery and so the result would have been the same if I hadn´t woven them in the first place but just stitched them on afterwards.

Dieser Monat war für mich der Monat des Abschließens alter Projekte und des Weihnachtsstrickens. Heute zeige ich euch meine Webprojekte des Monats. Die beiden Technikübungen oben haben zwei Freunden so gefallen, dass ich diese gerahmt und zu Weihnachten an sie verschenkt habe.

Das Türschild für meine Wohnungstür ist auch fertig geworden. Ich bin mit ihm aber nicht so sehr zufrieden. Damit man die Schrift erkennen kann, musste ich eine dicke Stickerei auftragen, die das zuvorige Weben der Buchstaben im Grunde überflüssig macht.

Next, the tiny rug got some knots to secure the warp threads. It also served as the template for a bedside rug - my first ´real´ woven piece, yay! - that I made for my sister. I teared some old bedlinen sheets into stripes to use them as wefts. It worked really well. And the kind people from our local knitting group were glad to give me some of their sheets in exchange for a few skeins of my stash.

Als nächstes hat der kleine Läufer Knoten bekommen, mit denen die Kettfäden gesichert werden. Und er hat als Vorlage für einen Bettvorleger, den sich meine Schwester gewünscht hatte, gedient. Mein erstes "richtiges" Webprojekt, hurrah! Gewebt habe ich den Bettvorleger aus Stoffstreifen, die ich aus alten Laken gerissen habe. Es hat sehr gut funktioniert. Die Mädels unserer lübecker Strickgruppe haben großartiger Weise ein paar Laken gegen Knäule aus meinem Wollvorrat getauscht.

There are a lot more finished projects to show. I gave some of them away as Christmas presents. As I haven´t had the opportunity to get good shots of most of them yet, I will leave this post to be dedicated solely to weaving.

I am just going to add that Christmas was a huge boost to my knitting and designing supplies!

Es gibt noch viel mehr Fertiggestelltes. Einiges habe ich zu Weihnachten verschenkt. Und ich habe von den meisten Dingen noch keine Fotos gemacht. Die werden aber noch nachgereicht, das ist versprochen! 

Das einzige, was ich noch schnell loswerden will: Weihnachten hat meinen Vorrat an Strickutensilien wirklich bereichert:
 

Yep, that´s an African basket, some really awesome yarn (pure wool and alpaca blend) - enough for a whole sweater! -, two brand new sketchbooks and a perfect pencil.

Jawoll, das ist ein afrikanischer Korb mit Deckel, ein wirklich traumhafter Schurwoll-Alpaka-Mix - genug für einen ganzen Pullover! -, zwei neue Skizzenbücher und ein perfekter Bleistift.
