winter knitting

If I do have any New Year resolutions, it is to take better shots. In my defense the weather really wasn´t helping at all these holidays. Anyway, these are my sister and my dad, who is wearing his new scarf. It is knit with a natural shade of Apaca Fino, a yarn that I like a lot.

Wenn ich dieses Jahr einen Neujahrsvorsatz habe, dann bessere Fotos zu machen. Zu meiner Verteidigung kann ich anführen, dass das Wetter wirklich nicht besonders kooperativ war. Egal, dass sind jedenfalls meine Schwester und mein Vater, der seinen neuen Schal trägt. Gestrickt ist er aus ungefärbtem Alpaca Fino, einer Wolle, die ich sehr gerne verwende.

Those bobbles at the lower edge are supposed to look like drops of water. It has a special meaning for my dad, but that is between the two of us, as I am sorry to say. 

Die Noppen am unteren Schalende sollen wie tropfendes Wasser aussehen. Das hat für meinen Vater eine besondere Bedeutung, über die ich hier aber schweigen werde. Ich hoffe, ihr versteht.

Edit: 

I am adding a few close-ups. You can see that the texture of the scarf is made up of a checked cable pattern which is worked accross vertical stripes formed by colomns of knit and purl stitches. The cables are worked on both, right side and wrong side rows, which makes the pattern rather elaborate to knit and so I decided against writing it down. But I do like the i-cord cast on, the i-cord edging and i-cord bind off.

Nachtrag:
Hier noch ein paar Nahaufnahmen. Man sieht, dass das Muster des Schals aus Karos auf Streifen besteht. Die Verzopfungen sind echt und werden in Hin- und Rückreihen gearbeitet, was das Muster eher umständlich strickbar macht. Daher habe ich beschlossen, kein Muster zu schreiben. Was mir aber gut gefallen hat, ist der I-cord-Anschlag, der I-cord-Rand und das Abketten im I-cord Stil.

And I made another Kerrera, this time for my old friend Wiebke. I am very glad that she seems to like it!

Und ich habe noch eine Kerrera gestrickt, diesmal für meine alte Freundin Wiebke. Ich bin sehr glücklich, dass sie sich in ihr wohlzufühlen scheint!
